The first annual Wahoo Festival is happening out in the beautiful Florida Everglades in the heart of the Big Cypress preserve. This outdoor festival offers camping facilities, food, vendors and educational booths emphasizing the need to protect the Everglades. But most importantly, there’s going to be great music. Featuring bands from in and around South Florida, headlining the show is the Spam All Stars who “blend improvisational electronic elements and turntables with latin, funk, hip hop and dub to create an electronic descarga.” (myspace.com/spamallstars), along with Miami’s own Latin funksters Suenalo Sound System (suenalomusic.com), Grammy nominated Cuban son group Conjunto Progreso (www.myspace.com/conjuntoprogreso) and soul-singer Brendan O’Hara (www.brendanohara.org). Plus, the Cooltura DJ Collective, Afromotive, Lanzallamas Monofonica, Burnin’ Smyranas, Elastic Bond, Monkey Village Afrobeta THC 2.0 and ArtOfficial.
